To quote one 40th Reunion attendee, “… it was a spectacular evening!”
Arriving at the foot of the gangplank, guests were welcomed by “Charlie” and adorned with leis that twinkled red and blue — quite a sight, once night fell! The weather was warm and clear and Richardson Bay sparkled as the sun set and lights came on. Another classmate asked, “Who do you have an ‘in’ with to request and get the perfect weather from?”
The food was yummy and plentiful, conversations flowed nonstop, and the Jackie Payne Steve Edmonson Band was HOT; they had people up on their feet dancing from their first note. Even the recorded music was specially assembled and evoked fond memories; all from 1964-68 and interspersed with station I.D.’s and jingles from our favorite local radio stations during the 60s — KSAN, KMPX, KYA, KSOL, KFRC, etc.
Once the party had been going for a while, Melissa Wuoltee and Steve Bajor made brief remarks, including remembering our classmates who had passed away. In addition, the Mill Valley Film Festival screening on Oct. 5th at 12:00 PM, of Reunion, “Filmmaker Mike Goldstein['s] … loving centennial tribute to Marin County’s famed Tamalpais High School,” was announced. If you have an opportunity, check out this wonderful documentary — our very own classmate, Ron Blasingame, is prominently featured!
Steve acknowledged the special time and place Tam’s Class of ‘68 occupied by quoting the opening line from A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens:
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.
For evidence of our superlative event, the first of Saturday evening’s photos are up on Photobucket. Keven Seaver posted 57 stills and 1 video. Check them out…. more to come. And, if you took pics and/or video, please post to, http://photobucket.com/tam68 (email Tam68lan@aol.com — if you need the password).
I wasn’t able to attend Sunday’s picnic at Boyle Park, but all reports indicate it was great fun and allowed for more leisurely conversation. And, word has it that several people are lobbying for some sort of yearly event. What do you think? Don’t forget to add your own comments about the reunion and picnic to this blog. Let’s keep the connection going!
Thanks to the committee and all who attended, for making this “a spectacular evening.” -Shannon

Kudos to the Reunion Crew and to those whose presence contributed to what was truly an exceptional event. In wine country we have a saying that “the best bottle of wine is one shared with friends”…..similarly, a great party is such because of all the great people who attend. Allot of time and thoughtfulness went into creating a very memorable event, down to the detail of honoring those classmates who are no longer with us – That was a very wonderful detail. I was also so very touched by the genuine welcome I felt, as a lower classmate (1969) arriving (late) on Saturday nights. It was uplifting for me to see…hug and talk with kids some whom I have not seen in 40 years. Thank you for allowing me to share the joy with all of you. And right back at you….I would like to personally invite all of you to attend Class of 1969 40th Reunion……and I promise to pore over the Class of 1968 (and 1969) PAI photos so I am better prepared to recognize more people. Love you guys……the 1968 Reunion ROCKED !!!!

Yes it was a great evening!!! I haven’t giggled and laughed so much since I don’t know when….oh yah high school. Everyone looked great. So many have accomplished so much with their lives. It certainly was fun to touch base with so many people that helped to make me the person I am now. I did miss not seeing some of my closest friends from high shool but throughly enjoyed all my grammar school friends. I hope we can all stay in touch now that we have made a connection.
Thanks again to all who put this together.
Best wishes to everyone.
