Bob Amen – sad news

The following message from Paul Erskine and forwarded by Nancy Larsen Dunbar was received on Aug. 13, 2009:

Hi Nancy,
I am sad to tell you if you don’t already know, that Bob Amen was killed in a motorcycle VS auto accident on the Point Reyes/ Petaluma Road Wednesday night.
Bob had just bought a new Ducati which was his pride and joy, he was heading home from work to have dinner with his wife, mother and brother John and was struck by a van which apparently strayed over the centerline.
I don’t know anything about memorial services at this point, but I thought you might be a good conduit to relay the sad news.
We had been friends for over 50 years.

This morning I did some digging online and found the attached link to an obituary for Bob Amen.  No funeral home was listed, but there is an online Guest Book that people can use if they want share memories.  Please pass this information on to our classmates. 9-12 Renew old friendships and share stories with current students while refreshing our Tam campus by planting, fertilizing, water seal Mead Theater, power wash (the men really like this one!). Bring your favorite garden tools, paint brushes, drop cloths, power wash equipment, garden hoses, wheelbarrows, heavy duty extension cords, etc. Can’t do the physical work? Come anyway and cheer us on!

2009 Class of ‘68 gathering

Why wait another ten years to get together?  How about an annual informal reunion once a year with no fancy clothes, no checks to mail , and no tickets?  Shall we try it this year and if we like it, do it again?
Sunday, September 6 the Sausalito Cruising Club will welcome us again with a cash bar and $15 buffet* available.
All they request is a rough idea of how many of us will show up.  So please RSVP.

Bruce Hildreth

Very sad news received today from Nancy Larsen Dunbar…

Bruce died yesterday of heart failure.  I met Bruce in kindergarten at Old Mill School.
He was always, I mean always, the nicest boy in school, which was to his credit since he was also the tallest, towering over his best friends, Wayne Wilcox and Steve Neely, who were the shortest!
He took care of his friends.  He used to walk me home from school which was way out of his way.
We are lucky we just got a chance to see him again at the reunion.
